NaNo Break #1: Find Your Inspiration

It’s finally NaNo Time! You’re hyped and pumped up after waiting for a whole year (that’s not just me, right?) and it’s good to strike when the iron is hot. You may not even want to take a break, but I’m here with inspiring motivation in case you need it.

I know I said these packages wouldn’t be about writing but I’m making this one exception! Only because from what I’ve seen, the first week is usually the week when everyone wants to be all about writing.

If you’re uncertain about your writing and not sure whether you should even bother, don’t fret! While NaNo is all about writing, writing and writing (forget things like editing or critique), it has led several people into publishing a book. And a debut novel can become a success — see for yourself!

If you’re so hyped you’re about to burst, share it! This is the month when we writers really come together to share our joys and pitfalls. Besides, being accountable increases your chances of hitting those daily goals.

If you’re still missing your NaNo soundtrack, search YouTube! You can use key words like “fantasy music” or “emotional music” or “instrumental rock.” Whatever kind of mood you want to set for your story, there’s a chance you’ll find just the right music for it.

If you’re feeling blocked, these quotes might jog your inner muse:

“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” — Francis of Assisi

“Dreams are only dreams until you wake up and make them real.” — Ned Vizzini

“The whales do not sing because they have an answer, they sing because they have a song.” — Gregory Colbert

“Don’t get it right – get it WRITTEN!” — Lee Child
